Live Photos have been available on the iPhone 6s since early 2015. They’re a unique iPhone creation that combines multiple still photos into one very short video, just like the GIFs we’re all obsessed with. When you take a photo with the Live Photos option, the iPhone camera takes multiple photos and then blends them together to create a smooth animation that lasts about 1.5 seconds.

Save a Live Photo as a video on iPhone
In iOS 13, 14 and 15, an option in the Photos app — Save As Video — lets you save a Live Photo as a video with a single tap, no third-party app required.
There are a few different ways to save your Live Photos as a video using the simple iOS tools already available to you right inside the Photos app. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to make GIFs of your photos to send to your friends.
1. In the Photos app, tap the Albums icon and select Live Photos.
2. Open a Live Photo in the gallery.
3. Click on Share button.
4. Tap Save as video.
